MOODS and Minors
MOODS is not for minors.
If you are under 18, this tool is not for you. MOODS is designed exclusively for adults, and we do not permit use by minors. This page exists to make that boundary explicit. What follows is our stance.
Why MOODS Is 18+
MOODS is designed for adult self-reflection. It is not built for developmentally vulnerable users.
We believe that deep inner work, symbolic reflection, and engagement with non-literal material require adult judgment and grounding.
We believe young people are better served by:
- Real-world relationships.
- Trusted adults.
- Tools designed specifically for youth safety and development.
MOODS is intentionally not built for that use case. We do not allow minors here because this is not the right container.
What MOODS Is Not
MOODS is intentionally designed to reject patterns that create risk or dependency. MOODS is:
- Not a companion. It does not simulate friendship, romance, or social bonds. It is a tool for reflection, not a substitute for connection.
- Not addictive by design. There are no gamification loops, streaks, or retention mechanics designed to create dependency.
- Not sexual. The system does not engage in erotic content or sexual interaction.
- Not for roleplay. It does not present itself as a person, character, or fantasy figure.
- Not a crisis service. It is not built for emergency intervention or acute mental health support.
- Not an emotional amplifier. The system is designed to ground and clarify rather than escalate intensity or prolong distress.
- Not a replacement. It is designed to return you to your life, not to replace your real-world support system.
Our Enforcement Line (Zero Tolerance)
We enforce a zero-tolerance policy regarding minors. Any indication that a user may be under 18 results in immediate enforcement.
- We do not debate age.
- We do not assess intent.
We do not continue the interaction.
If a user states or implies that they are a minor, the account is restricted immediately. It does not matter if the statement was a joke, a test, or roleplay. Mentioning being a minor is sufficient to trigger enforcement.
We prioritize child safety over user convenience. Once this indication appears, enforcement is final.
How Enforcement Works
When the system detects an enforcement signal, it does not argue or negotiate. Instead, the following occurs immediately:
- The session is terminated.
- The account is locked.
A sterile, procedural message is returned.
Accounts can only be reviewed or reinstated through human review. The chat interface cannot be used to reverse enforcement decisions.
A Note on Monitoring: MOODS conversations are private. We do not monitor chats in real-time, and we cannot intervene manually in live sessions. Because we do not surveil users, our safety systems are designed conservatively. We choose to enforce hard boundaries automatically rather than risk missing a violation.
Implicit Signals and False Positives
Our safety systems evaluate context. This means that adult users who use language or contextual references associated with minor status may trigger enforcement.
This is an intentional tradeoff.
If an adult user is restricted due to ambiguous language, the restriction will remain in place until reviewed. We would rather restrict an adult than risk allowing a minor access.
No Reliance on a Single Gate
We recognize that age verification tools are imperfect and that users may misrepresent their age. For that reason, we do not rely on a single gate to ensure safety.
We do not rely on:
- Disclaimers alone.
- Age checkboxes alone.
User honesty alone.
Instead, we rely on a layered approach:
- Product Design: The tool is intentionally designed to be reflective, bounded, and unrewarding for typical minor use cases.
- Refusal Behavior: The system is designed to refuse roleplay and dependency-oriented interaction.
- Non-Collusive Responses: The system is designed not to participate in or validate harmful narratives.
- Strict Enforcement: Enforcement actions are taken immediately when minor-associated context appears.
- Ongoing Safety Testing: We regularly test the system against adversarial and edge-case prompts to verify that boundaries continue to hold.
Final Statement
MOODS is for adults.
We enforce this boundary without exception. This is a deliberate choice made to protect minors and preserve the integrity of the work. If this boundary does not work for you, do not use MOODS.
We stand by this line.
